What this list covers
The third grade list finishes the 220 service words. Most can be decoded by now, so the goal is speed: reading together, myself, laugh, eight straight away, without slowing down. A few, like laugh and eight, stay tricky.
How to teach the third grade words
Children who decode these slowly lose the thread of the sentence. Short, frequent practice builds speed better than one long session.
In laugh the gh sounds like f. In eight, the eigh sounds like a long a. Say so plainly.
