Why the nouns are a separate list
Dolch's 220 service words leave out nouns on purpose, because nouns change with what a book is about. He published these 95 as a companion list of common nouns from children's books.
They're often the easiest to teach, because a child can picture them. Pair each word with the real thing: stick a card on the door, the chair and the window.
